Not every offer will suit every punter. Five things decide whether a bonus is worth your time, and you’ll find each of them in the list below. Here’s what each one does with your money:
Weigh all five together. A friendly wagering requirement doesn’t help if another condition is one you’ll never realistically meet.

Easybet runs a first deposit match and is one of the two bookies here with a store-rated app, so it suits anyone who bets from their phone. Its data-free betting also means using the site won’t eat into your mobile data.

Sportingbet’s sign-up offer is a welcome pack of bonus funds and free spins, spread across your first three deposits. That’s handy if you’d rather ease in instead of depositing everything on day one. The pack’s own terms aren’t published as a standalone page, but Sportingbet does publish the default rule that applies whenever a specific offer doesn’t say otherwise: wagering of five times the bonus and five times the deposit, at a minimum qualifying price of 1.70.

World Sports Betting publishes more of its conditions than any other bookie here, which makes its deposit match the easiest offer to judge before you put any money in. It states its wagering requirement separately for sport and casino, and the sports side is a lot lighter.

Sign-up offers come in several types, and a handful of mechanics underneath them decide what any of them is really worth.
Free bets and bonus bets are tokens, not cash. Stake one, and if it wins you keep the winnings, but the token itself stays with the bookie. That one rule is why a token is worth noticeably less than the same amount of your own money.
It also decides where to use one. Put a token on a short-priced favourite and what you get back is a thin slice of its face value, because the face value was never yours to begin with. Put the same token on a longer price and it turns into a multiple of that. Backing the home favourite is the habit that pays out the worst, and it’s also the most common one.
Pantherbet spells this out in its own terms: its Extra Bets are “Only Win”, so only the net winnings are paid and the stake isn’t returned. Where a bookie doesn’t say either way, assume the token isn’t returned and check before you stake it.
Some markets can finish level. Handicap lines on a whole number, draw no bet, and totals set on a whole number all settle as a push when the result lands exactly on the line.
With a cash bet, a push gives you your stake back. With a free bet or bonus bet there’s no stake to return, and depending on the bookie, the token may simply be gone. It’s the quietest way to lose a bonus without actually losing a bet. Read the void and push rules before you place the bet, not after.
A promo code is a short string you enter when you register, or sometimes at your first deposit, to unlock a specific offer. Where a code is needed, the bookie shows it on the offer’s own landing page or in the registration link that brought you there, so you shouldn’t have to hunt for it.
Codes matter because they’re usually the step people skip. Miss the field at sign-up and the offer generally can’t be added to your account later, even if you met every other condition. If the offer page mentions a code, enter it before you deposit.
When a bookie runs a campaign around a big fixture or tournament, the code sits on that campaign’s page rather than on the standard welcome offer, and the conditions are usually its own. Treat those as separate offers and read their terms separately.
Not every offer on this page needs a code. Several kick in on the qualifying deposit or the qualifying bet alone, and some need an opt-in tick instead. The offer’s own terms say which, and that line is worth finding before you register. Playabets and World Sports Betting are good examples.
In South Africa, bookmakers are licensed by provincial gambling boards, not by one national body. Before you deposit, it’s worth knowing which board backs the bookie you’re about to hand money to. The table below shows who licenses each one, so you can confirm it with the board itself.

Every offer on this page was reviewed against the same criteria before it earned its spot:
Reviewed by the Flashscore Editorial Team.
A no deposit bonus is credit you get for registering an account with a bookmaker, before you put any money in. South Africans search for these a lot, but they’re hard to find at a licensed bookie.
Every offer on this page needs a deposit. Where a no deposit bonus does turn up, the mechanic is simple. You register, verify your identity, and a small bonus balance appears. The conditions are where it gets tricky: steeper wagering than on a deposit offer, tight minimum odds, a short expiry, a cap on what you can withdraw from any winnings, and full FICA verification before a single rand leaves the account. Because the amounts are small, bookies are strict about people opening more than one account to claim it.
If you spot one advertised, check two things before you register. First, look for a named provincial gambling board and a licence number on the bookie’s own site. Licensing here is provincial, so a site that claims to be licensed without naming a board should raise suspicion. Second, read the withdrawal cap in the bonus terms, because that number decides how much you can actually take out.
Several sign-up offers on this page bundle casino free spins with the sports part of the bonus. That’s normal here, and it changes what you need to read.
Spins are casino play and usually come with their own wagering and their own expiry, so clearing the sports side of an offer doesn’t clear the spins.
This page covers the sports side only. Where an offer includes spins we say so, and the casino detail is on the bookie’s own promotions page.
If your offer is a free bet or bonus bet, the odds you use it on matter more to your cash return than the size of the token. The stake is never returned, so a free bet at a short price returns a fraction of its face value, while the same free bet at a longer price returns a multiple of it. A R100 token at 1.50 returns R50 if it wins, while at 4.00 it returns R300.
This doesn’t apply to every offer on this page. Deposit-match bonus funds usually behave more like your own money, so the stake is part of the return. Pantherbet is outside the argument altogether, because its terms limit the odds you can place an Extra Bet at. Where the token is a free bet with a minimum price and no ceiling, the argument applies in full.
That leaves one thing to get right: which match, and which market inside it. Flashscore shows live scores, fixtures, results, lineups and odds across the sports on this page, so you can sort it out in one place.
An example: You’re holding a bet token and a Soweto derby is coming up. The match centre shows both team sheets once they’re announced, along with recent form and the head-to-head record. Say the favourite’s first-choice striker is out. Most punters would still back the favourite to win, but that’s usually the shortest price on the game, so a winning token would return only a small slice of its face value. The missing striker makes that result less certain and opens up longer prices in the same match: a draw, an upset win for the other side, or under 2.5 goals. The token’s stake never comes back either way, so if you’re going to use it, a longer price is where it can return the most.
Start with football for PSL and European fixtures, rugby for domestic and international matches, golf for leaderboards as a round unfolds, and cricket for ball-by-ball scorecards.

Which betting site gives a free welcome bonus?
Every bookie on this page runs a sign-up offer, and the widget above shows what each one is offering right now. The terms behind the offer are the more useful comparison: the wagering requirement, the minimum odds and which markets qualify. A smaller offer with conditions you can actually meet is often worth more than a big headline figure you’ll never clear.
What is a no deposit sign-up bonus, and do South African bookies offer one?
A no deposit bonus gives you a small betting credit for registering, before you fund your account. Licensed South African bookies rarely run them. Where something similar does turn up, it’s usually tied to strict wagering, capped winnings or a deposit down the line. If a site promises one, check its licence first.
How do I claim a sign-up bonus?
Register an account, complete your identity verification, then make a qualifying deposit and place a qualifying bet as the offer requires. Some offers need you to opt in during registration or enter a promo code when you deposit, and if you miss that step it usually can’t be fixed later. Read the terms before you deposit, not after.
Do I have to deposit to get a bonus?
Yes, for every offer on this page. The sign-up bonuses here are built around a first deposit, either as a match on what you put in or as a free bet released once you’ve placed a qualifying wager. Offers that need no deposit are rare in South Africa, and they come with tighter conditions.
Are these betting sites licensed in South Africa?
Yes. Every bookie listed is licensed, and the details, including the provincial board and licence number, sit in the licensing table above.
